7.25.02: EdTech 2002 / SALT Conference in Arlington, VA.

Craig Tunks, Director, Information Systems, West New York Board of Education, presents "Inventory and Maintenance Tracking in a Technical World" and highlights SERTS as their solution.

Requisition Management

The Requisition module allows staff to create, view and print requisitions. Requisitions can contain any number of items and those items can be pulled from the district's inventory list or entered manually. Requisitions also have accounts associated with them so that the total amount of all items on the requisition must match the total amount disbursed to the various accounts related to the requisition. The totals for both the items and the accounts is displayed at the top of each requisition and the requisition can only start the approval process once the items and account amounts match. Staff level users can save a requisition as a draft or for approval by their school's principal. At any time, staff can view the status of the requests they created.

Once a requisition has been saved for approval, it can step through the approval process including school principals (who can only approve requisitions from their schools), directors (who can approve specific types of requisitions) and business administrators (who can approve any requisitions pending their approval). At any point in the process a requisition can be un-approved at which time the staff user who created the request would need to make corrections to the requisition and restart the approval process.

The module also allows district to create and maintain yearly budgets. Reports can be generated at any time on the status of requisitions, current budget status by account and more.
